Leadership Courses
We are qualified to train scuba divers from
beginners to course directors. We specialize in instructor level
courses.
PREP
The NAUI Instructor Preparatory Program
(PREP) is a prerequisite for persons not certified as a NAUI Assistant
Instructor or Divemaster, who want to attend a NAUI Instructor Training
Course (ITC). NAUI Assistant Instructors and Dive masters are encouraged
to complete a PREP Program. This is a non-certification program, which
includes 18 academic hours and 6 hours in the water.
ITC
The NAUI Instructor Training Course (ITC)
is designed to train and qualify NAUI Instructor members. During the
course, candidate instructors learn effective methods to teach skin and
scuba diving in compliance with NAUI Diving Course Standards. The course
assures the NAUI membership that candidates who receive certification as
NAUI Instructors have the knowledge, skills, fitness and proper attitude
to do so.
ICC
The NAUI Instructor Crossover Course (ICC)
is designed to train and qualify current non-NAUI recreational scuba
instructors to train diving students and register them for NAUI
certification.
STW
The NAUI Staff Training Workshop (STW)
qualifies the graduates to staff a ITC' as evaluators. It can be
attended by any active NAUI instructor.
ITW
The NAUI Instructor Trainer Workshop (ITW)
qualifies the graduates to conduct PREP programs and STW's and staff
ITC's in any position other than Course Director. It can be attended by
any NAUI Instructor who has taught or assisted with at least three diver
certification courses or accumulated 90 diving student contact hours.
Graduates are designated Instructor Trainers.
CDW
The NAUI Course Director Workshop (CDW)
qualifies the graduates to direct PREP programs, ITC's, ICC's, STW's,
and ITW's. It can be attended by any NAUI Instructor with Instructor
Trainer designation who has conducted and evaluated candidate
performances for at least one ITP or ICP (first parts of a two-part ITC
or ICC) and staffed and evaluated candidate performance for at least one
IQP (second part of a two-part ITC). ITC, ICC or ITW. Graduates are
designated Course Directors.
Private
Leadership Courses
Assistant Instructor
Must have 20 logged dives, be a master
scuba diver and rescue diver. Course includes approximately 13
academic hours and 7 in water hours. One open water dive is
required.
Divemaster
Must have 25 logged dives, be a master
scuba diver and rescue diver. Course includes approximately 20
academic hours and 10 in water hours. Ten dives are required for
certification.
